SAS campaigners and artists from Project Base joined forces on World Environment Day in June to celebrate what could be the world's first wave energy farm.

Known as 'Wavehub' the project, if granted consent, would be situated 10 miles off St Ives Bay in Cornwall by the end of 2007.

To support the project SAS campaigners instigated a 'Mexican Wave' on a section of St Ives Bay known as 'Mexico's. Wearing sombreros and poncho's a wave of enthusiasm for the project peeled off down the beach.

SAS are great supporters of clean and safe renewable energy, particularly those situated offshore to harness our wind, waves and tide.

By investing in such technology now, we can take the first steps to a more sustainable world.

Without such developments we are likely to see an increase in extreme weather events, associated with climate change, that will lead to more floods, droughts, storms and sea level rise. This would be devastating for many coastal areas around the world and would result in severley reduced water quality.
